As the Sunset Treasures main event comes to an end, here’s what you can expect from all extra Pickaxe or Shovel tokens.
Where do Pickaxe tokens go when Sunset Treasure ends in Monopoly GO?
When the Treasure Hunt ends in Monopoly GO, any leftover Pickaxe tokens are turned into dice. Each Pickaxe becomes three dice. The game doesn’t carry them over to the next event, so you start each Treasure Hunt with no tokens. Getting extra dice is a good bonus, even if the exchange rate isn’t great.
For instance, if you complete all 20 excavation sites in Sunset Treasures and have 15 Pickaxe tokens remaining, you’ll get 45 dice at the event’s conclusion.
How to get the most from Monopoly GO Pickaxe and Shovel tokens
After you’ve claimed all the prizes from all the sites in the Treasure Hunt, rewards from other events that give you Pickaxe tokens, like main events, tournaments, and Quick Wins, will instead give you cash, so you can’t earn more Pickaxes.
For instance, if you need five Pickaxes to finish the event and have them, hold off on using them. Continue participating in daily Monopoly GO events to gather extra Pickaxes. Once you’ve collected the extra Pickaxe tokens from all possible sources, use the ones you need to complete the final grid of the Treasure Hunt and finish the event. Collecting Dice is much better than cash as a reward.

Why rolling for Pickaxe and Shovel tokens is worth the Dice in Monopoly GO
If you aren’t planning to complete the Monopoly GO Treasure Hunt main event, you can still benefit from it. Natural rolls for Quick Wins and daily event rewards will earn you a few dozen Pickaxe tokens that unlock a few Treasure Hunt levels of rewards.
Unlocking the first six levels within Sunset Treasures, for example, will earn you a total of 500 free Dice rolls. Getting to level 10 will earn you a Shield that could unlock a new shelf in your inventory and provide even more Monopoly GO rewards. Try to unlock what you can as the extra rewards will pay off during future events.
