New Autobot or Decepticon Legendary skins for Reinhardt, Bastion, Ramattra, and Illari are just the beginning of the patch, which aims to take “bigger swings” and bring “bolder” changes to the meta, focused on tanks and nerfs to top heroes.

The Overwatch 2 patch notes today are full of balance changes, including buffs to the tank passive. Ultimate generation has been increased by 10 percent, while knockback resistance has been reduced by 10 percent.

“Dealing damage to tank heroes will be slightly less rewarding with the increased reduction to ultimate generation and will help to balance out the increased healing they may receive with the change to the damage role passive in this patch,” Blizzard said. “While the knockback resistance was generally useful for tank heroes and their emphasis on positioning, it was also reaching the point where it was difficult for players to tell if knockback abilities were having any effect on them.”

To further buff tanks, the DPS passive will now only offer 10 percent healing reduction, meaning that the frontline heroes should feel way more survivable now.

For individual heroes, buffs have come across the board for all tanks yet again. Individual changes include buffs to D.Va’s Defense Matrix (duration increased) and Micro Missiles (explosion damage increased), Doomfist and Junker Queen (Overhealth increase on certain abilities), Reinhardt (Barrier Shield max health increased to 1,600) and Sigma (Accretion impact damage doubled), among others.

For damage heroes, Pharah has been nerfed (Concussive Blast will now deal zero damage, but with increased knockback), And B.O.B. will now get the tank passive in Ashe’s ultimate.

“This is a reversion back to Pharah’s Concussive Blast from before her recent rework,” Blizzard said. “Dealing even a small amount of damage with this ability increases her lethality significantly and made it too reliable in finishing off low health targets, due to its wide area and fast projectile speed, without waiting the full recovery to fire another rocket.”

Support-wise, Ana’s Sleep Dart will now only effect tanks for three seconds, down from 3.5, further illustrating Blizzard’s attempts to buff the tank role in huge ways.
